We are deeply experienced in resolving international arbitrations across all industry sectors, thanks to the quality of instructions we have received from clients. We have a formidable reputation in Turkey with regular instructions both nationally and internationally.

We advise and represent clients in commercial and investor-state arbitrations, whether ad hoc or institutional, and in related state court proceedings. We have experience in bringing and defending proceedings administered by all the major arbitral institutions, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and Swiss Rules.

We are deeply familiar with regional arbitration centres, such as the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), Abu Dhabi Global Market Arbitration Centre (“ADGMAC”), and Turkish arbitral institutions, such as the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration and Mediation Center (ITOTAM), Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC) and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Arbitration Centre.

  • Represented a Japanese multinational business conglomerate in an ICC arbitration against the Turkish Ministry of Transportation related to one of Turkey’s most significant infrastructure projects involving Istanbul’s railway system, and an underwater tunnel underneath the Bosporus.
  • Represented a Japanese multinational business conglomerate in an ICC arbitration against a Turkish sub-contractor related to a dispute arising from a railway infrastructure project in Turkey.
  • Represented a major Chinese State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) in a SIAC arbitration against Turkish sellers related to an M&A dispute arising from a share purchase agreement regarding acquiring a significant electricity distribution entity in Turkey.
  • Acted for a prominent Turkish cable manufacturer against an Austrian machinery manufacturer in a dispute heard by an arbitral tribunal under the International Arbitration Rules of the Zurich Chamber of Commerce, concerning the purchase of cable manufacturing lines.
  • Advised a Chinese multinational energy company over a potential ICSID claim arising from a new renewable energy policy and associated support mechanism issued by Turkish energy regulators, negatively impacting their solar power investments in Turkey in a significant manner.
